Weight-Loss Story

Story by: Sharice Patterson
I wanted to tell my story about weight loss success. Oh it feels great just to be able to say that word... success. I attribute a large part of my recent success to the Phen program. Without them, I never would have been able to control my cravings. But, I've lost 30 pounds in just six weeks! I feel incredible. When I started taking Nutrisystem, I weighed 180 pounds, now I weigh 150. That's more than half way towards my goal of 130. I can't even wear my stretch pants anymore, they won't stay on. I don't even want to wear those anymore though. I want to get a whole new wardrobe to show off my new thin self. The best part was when my youngest son told me "Mommy you're getting smaller." Oh I can't explain the joy I felt to hear that. He didn't even know about my diet either, and he's too young to be lying to mommy about her weight!

I don't want to give the wrong impression though. It's not as though this is a magic program that you take and it fixes everything. I've been working very hard in addition to the program in order to make the most of my weight loss.

I started drinking a lot of water, like a lot! I now drink about 6 glasses per day. The water actually really helped, because it made me feel like there was something in my stomach at all times and it helped to make my appetite even less than the Nutrisystem was making it. More importantly , I cut down on all the junk food. I used to eat a lot of fast food meals, because they're so good and so cheap. But now, I've trained myself to go more for sandwiches now than all that greasy stuff, and that's helped. I find sub sandwiches can be just as tasty and satisfying as the burgers. The other thing I've been doing is exercising. I don't like exercising outside, because I'm very self-conscious about it. I've walked by little kids before and have them say things about my weight. It's really embarrassing and makes me want to give it all up. So, what I do is work out in my living room while watching my favourite TV shows. I do a lot of step machine exercise, and a lot of simple calisthenics that I can just do on a floor mat or whatever. You can read about exercises you can do just about anywhere, and you can ask fitness experts, your options are open. It's not an easy road, but I'm doing really great so far. Plus I think that with all the habits I'm building now, that I'll be able to keep the weight off after I reach my goal weight. Some day soon I'll be able to comfortably exercise in public. When that day comes, I will know that I'm on my way.
